Ex-City winger turns out for team in Manchester amateur league

It was never going to be an easy weekend for defenders of one Saturday league team. Not when former Manchester City and Bolton winger Martin Petrov turned out for the opposition anyway.
The 34-year-old, who has earned 90 caps for Bulgaria, is now playing for the Chorlton Torpedo in a Manchester weekend league.
Petrov was at City between 2007 and 2010 before he left for Bolton. He left the North West for La Liga side Espanyol at the end of last season.

But the tricky winger was clearly pining for a return to
Manchester after being released by the Spanish club.
Spartak Bushes defender Allan Cooke told the Manchester Evening News: ‘I kept looking over because he played centre forward and thinking, “That’s Martin Petrov”.
‘It was surreal. I’ve been telling all my mates and everyone at work and they don’t believe me until I show them the picture.’
Petrov scored the only goal of the game to seal the win for Torpedo.
