Liverpool target Costa lined up to replace Lewandowski at Borussia Dortmund for £20m

Borussia Dortmund want Diego Costa to replace Robert Lewandowski who is widely expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
Brazilian-born striker Costa has been in sensational form for Atletico Madrid this season - scoring 13 goals in as many games in La Liga.
The 25-year-old's form has attracted clubs across the continent with interest from Premier League sides including Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool - who failed with a bid to bring the forward to Anfield in the summer.

Who is Diego Costa?

Costa has been a revelation at Atletico Madrid after spending last season on loan at Rayo Vallencano.
He has scored 13 goals in
13 La Liga games and 17 in all competitions.

His agent is Jorge Mendes who also represents Cristiano Ronaldo, Radamel Falcao and Jose Mourinho.
The 24-year-old decided to snub Brazil and play for Spain.
Although he began as an attacking left winger, Costa has found more success up front.
He has played in Spain since 2007 and recently became a Spanish citizen eligible to play for the national team - although he has been ruled out of his first call-up with a leg injury.
According to German magazine Sport Bild, Costa has a €24million (£20.1m) release clause in his contract and would be interested in a move to the Bundesliga, despite recently renewing his contract until 2018.
'Costa likes the Bundesliga and has inquired about Dortmund in conversations with former players of the club such as Dedé and Marcio Amoroso,' claims the magazine.
Sport Bild claim the buy-out fee 'would be affordable' for last season's Champions League finalists who want to remain part of the European elite despite losing some of their best players.
Shinji Kagawa left for Manchester United while Lewandowski is widely expected to join Mario Goetze at Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
The Pole refused to sign a contract extension and was forced to play out the final year of his deal, despite interest from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea.
