Championship high flyers Burnley have been braced for bids with Ings taking over the goalscoring mantle from Charlie Austin this season. He has scored 15 goals in 21 games and attracted scouts from various Premier League sides.
Rodgers insists he won't spend money for the sake of it as questions continue to be asked about the performance of his recent purchases.
A move for Ings may again raise eyebrows with supporters expecting bigger names to back up Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez.
